As I sit here writing this post I am watching the special report on TV about the Fort Lauderdale airport shooting and anxiously awaiting for my son and his family to arrive home from a vacation in Orlando. I live in upstate New York and right now one of our border crossings into Canada (about 35 minutes from our home) is closed because of a bomb threat and across the lake in Burlington, Vermont the federal building is closed because a suspicious package was delivered there. What is this world coming to? I am very fearful for our future...
BUT... today is Friday and since there is nothing I can do nothing about those three incidents, I have some favorite things to share.
Fresh fruit... we are so lucky to have access to fresh fruit year round. And we've discovered that our bananas last several days longer on this banana hanger.

This plastic canvas banner that was made for us by a neighbor girl many years ago. It's part of my January mantle decorations. Obviously, I haven't taken Christmas off the mantle yet, but it's going to happen soon, I promise!
Some clever person posted about storing Christmas ornaments in disposable drinking cups. Genius!! We have many breakable ornaments and every year I carefully wrap them in tissue paper and hope that they survive until next year. Putting them in the cups was so much faster and easier and I am not quite so concerned about their survival.
