I love a good hair oil but lately I've been neglecting all of my hair products in favour of my leave-in conditioner. When I got my hands on this Macadamia Healing Oil Treatment that all completely changed and here is why.
The packaging is the traditional Macadamia fare - green and brown with the cute pattern. The only thing I would say is that because it's a screw top with no pump or pouring apparatus it's difficult to control the amount of product that comes out of the bottle without a steady hand. All you need is a small amount in the pool of your palm - about the size of a five piece - although bare in mind that I have shoulder length, very thick hair and therefore you should use more or less than this dependant on your own personal length and thickness.
The oil is really thick but easy to rub through your hands. It's a light gold in colour but this doesn't transfer onto the hair and it's in no way sticky which is great (purely because I can't think of anything worse than a sticky oil in my hair). The scent is simply lovely - warm and slightly nutty and spicy. I really like it and it lingers in the hair too which is good. I much prefer it when products do that. The other positive about this product is that it's easy to mix with other styling products and doesn't leave the hair weighed down because of it. I apply it to wet hair and run through the ends first before working it further up but not putting it on my roots or scalp. I then simply leave to air dry or style with a hair dryer. It can be applied to dry hair but I personally think it looks a little greasy on me when applied that way.
The oil can also be used as a pre-wash treatment by applying it to the ends 15-20 minutes before shampooing out. I personally found this didn't really do anything for my hair but perhaps if I left it on for longer it would give me some visible difference.
The difference in my hair when I use this oil and when I don't is obvious. My hair gives the most incredible healthy shine when I use it and feels the softest I've ever known it to. When I don't, whilst my hair is still healthy, it feels drier and looks dull in comparison.
I highly recommend it over the other hair oils I've tried before, if for nothing more than the amount of shine and the softness of my hair afterwards - something that I've yet to fins rivalled by any other product. I think it's definitely worth sampling if you can.
Macadamia Healing Oil Treatment (300ML RRP £60.00) is currently available from Gorgeous Shopfor £54.00 - although I would suggest getting the Macadamia Flawless Cradle Kit, also from Gorgeous Shop, (currently on offer for £19.31 instead of £25.75) as it includes the 30ml of this oil as well as a full sized Macadamia Flawless and a Macadamia Oil infused comb.
