The Three Gulmusketeers are a pack of trouble. They slip through fences and go wherever they please, to the fright of their mothers - and sometimes themselves! They seem as bonded to each other as they are to their dams, and I think it will be awhile before the Mighty Mites, as I've taken to calling the three younger lambs, will be able to stand up to the older gang of hoodlums. But first, the Mighty Mites will have to form an alliance of their own!
To that end, yesterday I haltered Butter and Brava and led them out to eat grass and give their lambs their first opportunity to mingle and play together. Barabbas seemed both confused and intrigued by Beau's and Boo's ability to run fast and jump high; another day or two and he'll keep up with his two smaller half-brothers.
In the meantime, Beau and Boo ventured off together to explore:
I think the hens are bigger than they are!
Barabbas:

This ram lamb with the huge horn buds is so stunning that I find myself weakening on my resolve to go polled. Hopefully someone will think he will be the perfect flock sire for their Shetland sheep, and remove temptation!
Finally, a shot of Bronwen, taken this morning. She is Rick's pick of the two ewe lambs, and I have to agree - she has presence, pattern, and plush (as in a very dense lamb fleece). She has also been wild as a deer since birth, but I think I'm finally breaking through her irrational fear and proving that humans can make a little lamb feel good. Inky's twins need no convincing; both are little lovebugs. That's it for now at . . .
