Twinning is now a ‘thing’ and the fashion crowd has been obsessed with it lately. Fast becoming one of the easiest ways to be noticed by street style photographers, more and more friends and siblings are showing up in identical coordinates in hopes of making street style history.
I grew up with three sisters and a mom who would sometimes sew our clothes. The fancy Christmas dresses, the Easter dresses and our Sunday's best were all made with love on her table top Singer sewing machine. Best believe that most times we were twinning from head to toe and twinning wasn’t even a thing back then. Luckily she didn’t make us 'coats of many colors' as the song goes. Ha!
Up until recently, if you walked into an event and spotted someone in the same outfit as you, you probably left to go change. Not anymore! This trend is now embraced and was sprinkled all over Spring 2018 fashion shows.
They say the best things in life are free. Today I’m showing a trend that money can’t buy because it’s totally free. Not the expensive yet vulgar looking Gucci everything that’s taking over the world but twinning with my BFF, an extension of me, my laughter buddy, my daughter who just so happens to be a twin herself!
How ironic is that!
We share and borrow between three of us my fifteen year old daughter included. This time instead of sharing, we decided to each get our own cape dress. And the idea to twin was born.
The rest is history...
